‘Dog control law could mean training sessions for owners’

To me this is an absolutely tremendous idea – that any authority is considering this is brilliant news, and an important acknowledgement of the responsibility of dog owners to train and socialise their pups appropriately! I look forward to the day when basic training is a must for all new dog owners :)

  1. Hi
I fully agree, but I am always hesitant about the extra cost. I believe that the sale of pups needs to be better controlled first of all. People need to be encouraged about having their dogs (and cats) sterilised. I ve been to dog training with my dogs. I look after them, they go to the vet for their boosters, I buy good food for them.
Again the State intervening, telling me how to do things and making me pay for it. I am not so sure.
Nevertheless it is worth the discussion and thoughts.
    Lovely blog you have here

    • Thank you! Yep I agree that the sale of pups should be much more controlled! Ideally I think better systems should exist for adoption, etc, so people are more encouraged to do so. Recognising responsible owners is a great next step so that people aren’t made to go to training, etc, if they’re already familiar or have been before…… Even recognising that irresponsible owners rather than ‘dangerous breeds’ are primarily to blame is a significant positive step, though, I think :)
